Vision Plans for Individuals in California

Vision Insurance makes more sense than Dental because you know you will need it every 12 months. Most Vision plans use a benefit design that may look like this 12/12/24. 

The first number represents the exam. In this case, every 12 months it will pay. 

The second number is the Lenses Benefit. Every 12 months you can access the benefit. 

The third number is for frames. Every 24 months you can replace your frames with coverage. 

Keep in mind:

• Most Vision plans you only get contacts or frames benefits. Not both
• You will have copays associated with the plan. The more the copay, the less you pay in premiums
• A Good Frame and Contact Benefit is $150 or higher

We Recommend VSP for your vision needs. It is the largest network and it is what the teachers have and companies like UPS or other Fortune 500 companies.  Check to see if your eye doctor is in the VSP network here
